Our Mission

Our mission is simple: to come alongside people facing sudden, unexpected crises and offer financial assistance when they need it most—without red tape, complicated applications, or unnecessary delays. We understand that emergencies can happen quickly and leave families feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, and alone. That is why we are committed to showing up with compassion, dignity, and practical support during difficult times. Whether someone is dealing with an unexpected bill, a personal hardship, or a temporary financial setback, we want to help ease the burden and remind them that they are not facing it alone.

How It all started

My name is Will Carrier.  I am a husband, a father and a long standing business owner in Brown County.  I regularly watch Texas Country Reporter on Saturday evenings. One episode featured a group in Lubbock, Texas who provides financial help to people in crisis—no strings attached, no red tape. It immediately struck me: we need something like that here in Brown County. I contacted the radio station mentioned in the episode and was connected with Gary Ashby, who leads Payday Lubbock. After several conversations, Gary generously shared all his legal documents, processes, and procedures with me. I then reached out to my friend Mark Bessent, an attorney and CPA, who offered to help establish the organization here, both with the State of Texas and the IRS. We formed a Board of Directors consisting of myself, Mark Bessent, Rick Gibson, David Garrett, Debbie Morelock, Mark McNeill, and Kyle Riley.

I encourage you to watch the short Texas Country Reporter segment that inspired this effort—it’s what moved me to start Payday Brown County.

We’ve modeled everything after Payday Lubbock, using the same structure and methods, and I'm proud to say that we have already provided assistance to several local families. If you’d like to be part of a group that helps people in their greatest time of need, please reach out—I’d love to get you involved.
